Acura RLX
The basic configuration of the Acura RLX sedan in combination with a conventional internal combustion engine has 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, and a sunroof. Interior equipment includes an electric steering wheel (tilt and reach), front seats with electric drive, settings memory and heating. The car has an ignition system and keyless entry, three-zone climate control, a rear-view camera, Bluetooth. The ELS audio system with 10 speakers, CD player, USB is responsible for music. A navigation system is optionally available; if available, the climate control system also uses GPS data to adjust the temperature in the cabin. The hybrid version of the RLX is distinguished by special 19-inch wheels with reduced noise levels, a head-up display, and an electronic gear selector. Options for both versions add ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. The Technology package is available, which includes, among other things: noise-canceling acoustic glass, leather upholstery, wood trim, 14-speaker ELS audio. The package adds 19-inch wheels to the base package (in Acura RLX 2016 are included as standard equipment).
The driving force behind the RLX is a 310-horsepower 24-valve V6 with SOHC valve timing, i-VTEC variable valve timing, VCM cylinder deactivation and direct fuel injection. The developers are confident that this high-tech internal combustion engine is the most economical in its class, its estimated fuel consumption is 11.8 liters per 100 km in the city, 7.6 liters on the highway and 9.8 liters in the combined cycle. In 2013, Acura introduced a new hybrid version of the RLX with 8-cylinder performance. At the same time, fuel efficiency is comparable to a 4-cylinder power unit. The “heart” of the hybrid power plant RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is the same 3.5-liter V6, but here it works in combination with three electric motors, one of which is integrated into a seven-speed robotic gearbox. The total power is 377 hp. Fuel consumption is just over 7.6 liters per 100 km.
The Acura RLX sedan has an independent double wishbone front suspension. A multi-link suspension is installed at the back. The anti-roll bars have a diameter of 33 mm on the front axle and 25 mm on the rear. The Acura RLX sedan uses a rear wheel steering system under the designation P-AWS (Precision All-Wheel Steer), that is, “precise control of all wheels”: the role of the rear wheel toe angle adjustment mechanism is assigned the task of providing increased maneuverability at low speeds, more accurate and safe lane changes at high speeds, as well as improved braking stability. All versions of the sedan are equipped with powerful disc brakes – the size of the front ventilated rotors is 12.3 inches, the rear solid ones are 12.2 inches. Overall dimensions: length 4982 mm, width 1890 mm, height 1465 mm. In these parameters, the sedan is comparable to the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but has a slightly shorter wheelbase – 2850 mm. Trunk volume – 428 liters.
Acura RLX 2014 model year will offer the following security systems. These are two-stage front airbags, side airbags for the front seats, a knee airbag for the driver, curtain airbags for both rows. Standard are electronic stability control and traction control, ABS with electronic brake force distribution. The Advance package adds adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance with automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors.
