The car is based on the Hyundai Santa Fe platform, but without a massive frame in the design. Despite this, the car pleasantly surprises with driving performance in urban and rough terrain.

Kia Sorento 2012 received the prefix XM in the name. The load-bearing body of the machine with front and rear subframes is made of high-strength steel grades that are resistant to serious damage.

The German stylist Peter Schreyer worked on the appearance of the 5-door station wagon. His Schreyer Line concept was used in the design of all subsequent Kia models.

From standstill to 100 km / h accelerates in 10.4-11.6 seconds (depending on the type of transmission).

The second version of the power plant is a 2.2-liter CRDi turbodiesel engine with 197 hp. Its performance is optimized with a variable geometry turbocharger and balancer shaft. Direct injection of fuel takes place under high pressure using Common Rail technology. Torque strength - 436 Nm, compression ratio - 16: 1. Depending on the gearbox, acceleration to “hundreds” with a turbodiesel takes 9.6-9.8 seconds.

Transmission

"Kia Sorento" 2012 is available for sale with a 6-speed "mechanics" and automatic transmission. Unlike the previous generation, the transmission of the new crossover SUV has been seriously upgraded. Now the connection of the rear wheels in the 4WD drive when slipping in 0.15 seconds, which improves the car's patency on snowy and sandy tracks.

With the help of special sensors, the on-board computer receives data on the speed of rotation of the wheels and the angle of the steering wheel. It then automatically redistributes torque between front and rear wheel drive for maximum directional stability in a variety of off-road conditions.
