The age of these cars is relatively small, and it would seem too early to talk about any serious body problems. Outwardly, almost all cars are kept just fine: the high level of paintwork and quality of service affects. Corrosion at the edges of the arches is found on rare neglected specimens or on cars after an accident.

A superficial inspection of the car from below will also not reveal anything terrible. Few examples will be upset by surface corrosion of the bottom at the rear, on the sides of the gas tank, at the handbrake cable brackets and on the bottom in front of the fuel tank. But if you clean dry dirt at the bend of the floor spar in front, then there will almost certainly be corrosion crawling out from the inside of the element. Here, a design miscalculation jeopardizes the integrity of the body in the most important place. The fact is that the powerful-looking spar is made of relatively thin one and a half millimeter steel.

The problem area begins approximately from the moment the front subframe is fixed and ends in centimeters ten to fifteen centimeters after the transverse reinforcement of the spar, limiting the size of the “wet zone”. Even on a car after restyling, the internal corrosion of the element is significant; before restyling, the car most likely consumes not only opening and replacing the side wall of the side member, but also touches its bottom panel and cleaning the seams with the bottom.

In the equipment of the body at risk are the anthers of the engine compartment and the bottom, chrome and gold design elements and door handles. The doors are also sensitive to mileage, and if it exceeded two hundred thousand, then the hinges of the driver’s door almost certainly sagged, and the door seals were very crumpled.

The biggest problem is the outside door handle. The mechanical part is reliable, the plastic is strong, but the handle has microswitches that do not withstand operation in our climate for more than a couple of years. Of course, the switches are quite standard, they can be replaced, but the services usually just ask to bring a new handle, which ends in a spoiled mood from sky-high prices or a long wait for delivery.

Closer to 200 thousand mileage, the filter meshes become clogged and the fuel pump “dies”. There are two gas pumps on the CTS, one for each half of the tank, and there are no hatches under the seat, so you have to remove the tank.

Body level sensors turn sour and rot, and driving with xenon “on the floor” is extremely uncomfortable. ABS hub sensors are not supplied separately, but break them quite regularly – they turned out to be fragile. They say they manage to pick up from other cars or simply remove from old hubs.
